About Inkjet Printer Technology

An inkjet printer is a type of computer printer which makes a image by propelling droplets of ink on to paper. This kind of printer is the most commonly used type of printer technology in use today around the world. The inkjet printing technology originated in the 19th century and was mostly developed in the 1950s.  Then in the late 1970s these printers were developed. The inkjet printer market is mainly controlled by Epson, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Canon and Lexmark. Although there are many other companies who make inkjet printers, these are the leading brands in the market. There are two kinds of technology which are used in inkjet printers. One is called continuous (CIJ) and the other is called Drop-on-Demand (DOD). We will explain these in future posts.
