What is RFID?

RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID) is the revolutionized bar code that we are currently using today. Although we are not aware how RFID works but it’s exactly the same as a bar code the differences are bar code can only scan one item at a time unlike for a RFID tags it can read/scan as many tags in one scanning. RFID tags has the capabilities of tracing where and when the item has been sold because it can read, store and update data. RFID tags are commonly use in tracking vehicles and airline passengers. Although RFID tags are more expensive compared to a bar code but eventually in the future, there would be a widely use of this RFIDs due to its ability to store and update data. Let’s see how these RFID tags will affect more of our lives in the years to come.

Junk (DK) Data Storage Devices

Computer age continuously develops. Everyday there are lots of changes with gadgets and devices we use to help us cope up with these changes. We started from simply floppy drives, to huge capacity storage devices. We are familiar with floppy drives or diskettes; those that come at 3.5 inch, 5.25 inch and 8 inch floppy disks.

There is also another data storage device we often encounter or hear. These are LTO or Linear Tape-Open drives which has a standard form factor called Ultrium. It is used to digitally record information a user wants to store. An LTO tape drive performs actual writing and reading.
There are different generations of LTO tape drives or LTO drives. Most common are LTO 1 which has 100GB capacity, LTO 2 with 200 GB capacity, LTO 3 with 400 GB capacity and LTO 5 with 1.5 TB.

We also have USB and/or external hard drives that we typically use today. These are for users who are always on the go.

As we continue to acquire and increase information. We find ways to enhance what we currently have to make life more convenient. Truly, man simply could not resist change.

Junk (dk) Dot Matrix Printer

Dot matrix printers also called as "impact printers" represent the oldest printing technology. In fact, a growing number of organizations are returning to do matrix because of the cost benefits as well as robustness and reliability.

Dot matrix printer do not produce high quality output but they are expensive compare to laser and ink jets. It is a perfect choice when printing large amounts of data with carbon copies quickly and reliably, something laser and ink-jet printers cannot do. Imagine using Laserjet or Deskjet to print 3 times for the same information-the toner will deplete very fast and the price of a toner cartridge is quite expensive. For long term printing with laserjet or deskjet it will gone to cost a lot.
