Flat Metal Or Wood Plate Called The Platen

Ok, so what is a platen you may wonder? Well it is none other than a flat metal or in ancient times a wooden plate which is placed and pressed against a soft medium, such as paper to produce impressions on it. The method is now called letterpress printing. The platen can also be referred to as a simple typewriter roller. This roller is the one which forces the paper below the type bars or print heads.

Confused? It is easy to get confused by all the above choices but consider:
A) The faster drives with more storage capacity will be the most expensive. So if speed and more capacity is your concern look at the DLT-S4. Conversely, the slower drives with less capacity will be cheaper.
B) Look at the interface you need like Ultra 160 or USB for example. This will help you narrow down which model(s) to consider.
C) Consider your space or where you will locate the drive. Will it go into your server rack or on your desk or into your tower. This will determine further which model you should go with or not.
D) And do consider if you already have tapes written on a smaller capacity drive and you are upgrading to a bigger capacity drive which models will read which tapes that you already have. Making sure the new drive is "backward read and write compatible" with your existing tapes will save your investment in tapes which could be key also in your decision.

Label printers have a wide variety of applications, including supply chain management, retail price marking, packaging labels, blood and laboratory specimen marking, and fixed assets management.
Label printers use a wide range of label materials, including paper and plastic materials. Several types of print mechanisms are also used, including laser and impact, but thermal printer mechanisms are probably the most common. Commercial label printers can typically hold a larger roll of stock (up to 8" wide) and are geared for medium-volume printing.

TYPES OF LABEL PRINTERS:
Two types of label printers are as follows:
Direct Thermal - Uses heat sensitive paper (similar to thermal fax paper). Direct thermal labels tend to fade over time (typically 6 to 12 months); if exposed to heat, direct sunlight or chemical vapors, the life is shortened. Therefore, direct thermal labels are primarily used for short duration applications, such as shipping labels.
Thermal Transfer - Uses heat to transfer ink from the ribbon on to the label for a permanent print. Some thermal transfer printers are also capable of direct thermal printing.

There are three grades of ribbon for use with a thermal transfer printers:
Wax is the most popular with some smudge resistance, and is suitable for matte and semi-gloss paper labels.
Wax / Resin is smudge resistant, suitable for semi-gloss paper and some synthetic labels.
Resin is scratch and chemical resistant, suitable for coated synthetic labels.
When printing on continuous label stock, there is a tendency for the print location to shift slightly from label to label. To ensure registration of the print area with the target media, many label printers use a sensor that detects a gap, notch, line or perforation between labels. This allows the printer to adjust the intake of label stock so that the print aligns correctly with the media.

Band Printers Are Very Fast & Durable Printers

Band printers are very durable printers and can be used in harsh demanding high output environments. They are very popular with industries that have data centers where speed and reliability are a must. A band printer can print anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand lines per minute. It accomplishes this by using a metal band with characters embossed on it. The band loops around a set of hammers that pushes the paper into the ribbon. A Band Printer can run continously with very little maintenance and upkeep. It is very well suited for high demand jobs.

Want To Buy DDR3 SDRAM?

DDR3 SDRAM is the latest technology or model of RAM. It reduces heat and power consumption. Its clock speed is higher (faster) than that of DDR2 memory and other DDR memory products. Since DDR3 RAM runs at a higher clock speeds as mentioned previously this will make all components within the processor and graphics card run faster and benefit from receiving information at a faster rate. Therefore DDR3 RMA memory works more efficiently, giving a boost to frame rates while gaming. It also transfers data at twice the rate (eight times the speed of i...

Turkey Promo Saves You 19 Bucks

The original Thanksgiving feast lasted for three days. There is a strong likelihood that turkeys were served, along with geese, ducks and pigeons. Whether the Pilgrims and Indians ate enough fowl to save 19 bucks (male deer) from being killed is not known.

By some accounts they also ate oysters and lobsters. Not a bad menu, me thinks.

Tips On Buying Ink Cartridges For Printers

In general, the black ink cartridges are cheaper than color toner cartridges.  So do ask yourself when buying ink, do you need color prints, or will they work equally well in black and white? If the answer is "yes", you will be saving a considerable amount of money in purchasing black ink cartridges.
If you are cost-conscious and also have great concern for the environment, purchasing recycled ink cartridges are a good option.
If you buy any kind of cartridge, make sure it is compatible with your printer. Many people are surprised to learn that the ink cartridges need to be specified for use with your specific model and manufacturer of printer. This should be explained clearly on the outer packaging of your ink. If you are having trouble remembering the model number of your printer,  simply write it on a piece of paper and take it to the store with you. This is the most important information to have when selecting ink cartridges for printers, because without the model number of the printer, you're probably not getting the right ink product.
Because ink cartridges are sometimes very expensive, it is often possible to find a bargain on a combo printer cartridge / ink. A visit to a local retail store revealed a single cartridge for $ 29.97. Right next to the selection of ink cartridges are more than one printer in a box. Among them, a new printer and ink cartridge color combo, which was cheap at only $ 34.95. Most of the ink cartridges for printers carry a manufacturer's warranty to ensure your satisfaction. The only way to get coverage, as promised, is to keep the original receipt of purchase, packaging, ink cartridges and warranty information. If your new ink cartridge does not work as promised, most manufacturers will either replace the cartridge at no cost to you, or refund the original purchase price in full.

Rewrite (dk) Acquaint Yourself With Computer Printers

A computer printer is a device used for printing text or images on hard copy stored in electronic form, generally on physical print media like paper. Printers are designed to support both local and network connected users simultaneously.

Nowadays, modern printers can directly interface to electronic devices like digital cameras. Some printers that come with non printing features are commonly known as Multi-Functional Printers (MFP) or Multi-Function Devices (MFD). It integrates various functions of multiple devices into one. Such types of printers are extremely useful for small businesses and home offices.

As opposed to a traditional printer, a multi-functional printer is a combination of devices like Printer, Scanner, Photocopier, and Fax Machine. Likewise, there are numerous other types of printers widely available in the market. Let's take a look at them:

Laser Printer: A laser printer works in a similar fashion as a photocopier does. It has a roller which is charged with electricity. A laser beam is passed to remove the charge from portions of the roller. The parts hit by the laser are powdered by the toner which is then transferred from the roller to the paper. Finally, the ink is baked into the paper with the help of a heater incorporated in the printer. People generally prefer laser printer because of its ability to give high quality output and high speed.

Dot Matrix: It has a print head that moves across the page. A dot matrix printer produces characters using a cluster of pins which press an inked ribbon to the paper, thereby creating a dot. Each character is made in the same way. Dot Matrix printers are relatively cheaper and durable. These qualities still attract businesses which use them as invoice printers.

Ink Jet and Bubble Jet: It works in a manner similar to a Dot Matrix Printer. However, its print head sprays liquid ink onto the page instead of pressing a dry ink against the page. Ink jet and bubble jet printers are better known as predecessors of laser printers. They produce better image quality and run faster.

From inkjets to monochrome and color lasers, different printers are designed to accomplish different tasks. Companies like DELL, CANON, LEXMARK, BROTHER, EPSON, and HP HEWLETT PACKARD are most preferred when it comes to buying a printer. Nowadays, computer printer support is widely available on the Internet which saves you from taking it to any expensive technician for troubleshooting.

Junk Garbage (DK) Tractor Feed Assemblies

In operation of the specific embodiment employing the present invention and with the modular bidirectional tractor feed assembly 10 installed on a suitable printer, the operator will adjust the positions of tractor mechanisms 34 and 36 to the width position to accommodate the particular width of record material 54 to be used for the printing operation. Graduated scale 56 provides guide lines, which the operator may use to determine the positions desired to place the tractor mechanisms 34 and36. In order to relocate the tractor mechanisms 34 and 36, the operator will release the tractor mechanisms 34 and 36 from notched rail member 30 by operation of lever 66 and the corresponding lever on tractor mechanism 36, move them to the new location and lock them in place on notched rail member 30 by operation of the same levers. With the assistance of paper edge guide 72 on tractor mechanism 34 and the corresponding paper edge guide on tractor mechanism 36, the operator will insert the leading edge of the record material 54 onto the notched rail member 30, the platform 74 of tractor mechanism 34 and the corresponding platform of tractor mechanism 36. The operator will then initiate paper feed to the printer, which will apply a rotational force to gears 24 and 28 through the connection to the printer. Splined shaft 26 and shaft 20 will rotate resulting in the rotation of platen 18 and chain 106 in tractor mechanism 34 together with the corresponding chain in tractor mechanism 36. As the operator further inserts the record material 54, filling slots 76 and 76a and the corresponding filling slots of tractor mechanism 36 provide assist in positioning the perforations 70 over the offset pins 68 for positive and accurate feeding through tractor mechanisms 34 and 36, between the paper pan 12 and bar 48 together with platen 18. After a sufficient portion of record material 54 has been fed, the operation will stop the paper feed and lift guide plate 78 and the corresponding guide plate of tractor mechanism 36 and place the record material 54 around platen 18 and onto the offset pins 68. The perforations 70 of the record material 54 will align because of the factory adjustment of the position of splined shaft 26 relative to shaft 20 of platen 18. The record material will also be properly tensioned. The operator will then lower guide plate 78 and the corresponding guide plate of tractor mechanism 36, and the system will be ready for a printing operation. The presence of record material 54 will be sensed by the paper-out sensing means, and an indication will be sent to the printer that printing may be initiated. As printing continues, gearing (not shown) in the host printer (not shown) will rotate gears 24 and 28, which will result in rotation of platen 18 and tractor mechanisms 34 and 36 and the feeding of the record material 54. The tractor feed assembly 10 will feed the record material 54 in either direction as dictated by the direction of rotation of gears 24 and 28.

Good (DK) Print Servers for large, small, home and office networks

A print server is a computer or device that connects printers to client computers over a network by which one or more printers are connected, which can accept print jobs from external client computers connected to the print server over a network.
Each station has the ability to designate one of the printers on the network as its default printer, but may always choose to send a print job to any of the other printers recognized by the print server.

Print servers may support a variety of industry-standard or proprietary printing protocols including Internet Printing Protocol, Line Printer Daemon protocol, and Microsoft Network Printing protocol.

Alternatively a print server may be a dedicated device on the network, with connections to the LAN and one or more printers.
• Allows network to share the same printer.
• Any one on network directly to it.
• Print servers are used in both large and small or home office networks.
• In a large organization, a single dedicated computer serving as a print server might manage hundreds of printers.

Not on Keywords assigned (possibly useable) scanner lamps

scanner has become an important part of the home office over the last few years.scanner technology is every where and used in many ways:
1.flatbed scanners:also called desktop scanners, are the most versatile and commonly used scanners.it is very essential for desktop to scan.
2.sheet- fed scanners:are similar to flatbed scanners except the document is moved and the scan head is immobile.a sheet-fed scanner is mostly looks like a portable scanner.
3.handheld scanners:use the same basic technology as a flatbed scanner but rely on the user to move them instead of motorized belt.this type of scanner typically does not provide good image quality.however it can be used for quick capturing text.
4.drum scanners: are used by the publishing industry to capture incredibly detailed images.they used a technology called photo multipiler tube(pmp).in pmt the document to be scanned in mounted on a glass cylinder.at the center of the cylinder is a sensor that splits light bounced from the document into three beams.each beam is sent through a color filter into a photo multipiler tube where the light changed into an electric signal.

the basic principle of a scanner is to analyze a image and process it in some way.image and text capture(optical character recognition or OCR) allow you to save information to a file in your computer.you can then alter or enhance the image, print it out or use it for other things.

It also transfers data at twice the rate (eight times the speed of its internal memory arrays). It can enable higher bandwidth. DDR3 SDRAM gives a transfer rate of (memory clock rate) × 4 (for bus clock multiplier) × 2 (for data rate) × 64 (number of bits transferred) / 8 (number of bits/byte). Thus with a memory clock frequency of 100 MHz, DDR3 SDRAM gives a maximum transfer rate of 6400 MB/s. In addition, the DDR3 standard permits chip capacities of up to 8 gigabytes.

This Is How A Printer Drum Works

All printer drums are a key and essential part of a printer. The drum works or its job is to be an image holder of documents in the printer. When you write on the computer and make a command to print the words then it (the drum) makes the whole document into one picture as a reverse image of the document. Then a negative charge is created on the drum as the drum continues to roll as it approaches the toner hopper. Then the positive charged toner element strikes or takes on the image created on the drum.  It does this when it becomes close to the paper and when the print cycle is almost complete. Printer drums work differently from

Should You Switch From From DDR2 to DDR3 Memory ?

Many motherboards support using both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, but the only problem is that the processor used can dictate which type of memory is acceptable to install. For example, using an Intel Core i7 or i5 processor means you're going to have to use DDR3 memory, no matter what your motherboard supports. On the other hand, some processors only support DDR2. So be sure to read your motherboards instructions carefully, otherwise you could end up wasting your money.

DDR2 is very economical. Well, to put it bluntly, DDR2 memory is cheap. DDR3, in comparison, is pretty expensive. While you do get a slight performance advantage with DDR3, the real advantage is your ability to upgrade. DDR2 is old technology, and it's slowly being phased out (slowly being the key word here). In the future, almost every computer will use DDR3 memory, and upgrading from DDR2 is going to be a hassle. On the other hand, you can get a lot more memory by buying DDR2 now. In fact, you can get almost double the amount of RAM by buying DDR2 memory instead of DDR3. For those that recall the transition from DDR1 to DDR2, the move from DDR2 to DDR3 will be much the same. It will take years for DDR3 to become main stream.  Lastly, those with a DDR2 motherboard have nothing to worry about as DDR2 production will continue with even improved parts still on the drawing boards.

Parts of a computer

If you use a desktop computer, you might already know that there isn't any single part called the "computer." A computer is really a system of many parts working together. The physical parts, which you can see and touch, are collectively called hardware. (Software, on the other hand, refers to the instructions, or programs, that tell the hardware what to do.)

The illustration below shows the most common hardware in a desktop computer system. Your system may look a little different, but it probably has most of these parts. A laptop computer has similar parts but combines them into a single notebook-sized package.
Picture of a desktop computer systemDesktop computer system

Let's take a look at each of these parts.
System unit

The system unit is the core of a computer system. Usually it's a rectangular box placed on or underneath your desk. Inside this box are many electronic components that process information. The most important of these components is the central processing unit (CPU), or microprocessor, which acts as the "brain" of your computer. Another component is random access memory (RAM), which temporarily stores information that the CPU uses while the computer is on. The information stored in RAM is erased when the computer is turned off.

Almost every other part of your computer connects to the system unit using cables. The cables plug into specific ports (openings), typically on the back of the system unit. Hardware that is not part of the system unit is sometimes called a peripheral device or device.

Storage

Your computer has one or more disk drives—devices that store information on a metal or plastic disk. The disk preserves the information even when your computer is turned off.
Hard disk drive

Your computer's hard disk drive stores information on a hard disk, a rigid platter or stack of platters with a magnetic surface. Because hard disks can hold massive amounts of information, they usually serve as your computer's primary means of storage, holding almost all of your programs and files. The hard disk drive is normally located inside the system unit.
Picture of a hard disk driveHard disk drive
CD and DVD drives

Nearly all computers today come equipped with a CD or DVD drive, usually located on the front of the system unit. CD drives use lasers to read (retrieve) data from a CD, and many CD drives can also write (record) data onto CDs. If you have a recordable disk drive, you can store copies of your files on blank CDs. You can also use a CD drive to play music CDs on your computer.
Picture of a CDCD

DVD drives can do everything that CD drives can, plus read DVDs. If you have a DVD drive, you can watch movies on your computer. Many DVD drives can record data onto blank DVDs.
Tip
Tip

If you have a recordable CD or DVD drive, periodically back up (copy) your important files to CDs or DVDs. That way, if your hard disk ever fails, you won't lose your data.
Floppy disk drive

Floppy disk drives store information on floppy disks, also called floppies or diskettes. Compared to CDs and DVDs, floppy disks can store only a small amount of data. They also retrieve information more slowly and are more prone to damage. For these reasons, floppy disk drives are less popular than they used to be, although some computers still include them.
Picture of a floppy diskFloppy disk

Why are floppy disks "floppy"? Even though the outside is made of hard plastic, that's just the sleeve. The disk inside is made of a thin, flexible vinyl material.

Mouse

A mouse is a small device used to point to and select items on your computer screen. Although mice come in many shapes, the typical mouse does look a bit like an actual mouse. It's small, oblong, and connected to the system unit by a long wire that resembles a tail. Some newer mice are wireless.
Picture of a computer mouseMouse

A mouse usually has two buttons: a primary button (usually the left button) and a secondary button. Many mice also have a wheel between the two buttons, which allows you to scroll smoothly through screens of information.
Picture of mouse pointers

When you move the mouse with your hand, a pointer on your screen moves in the same direction. (The pointer's appearance might change depending on where it's positioned on your screen.) When you want to select an item, you point to the item and then click (press and release) the primary button. Pointing and clicking with your mouse is the main way to interact with your computer. For more information, see Using your mouse.

Keyboard

A keyboard is used mainly for typing text into your computer. Like the keyboard on a typewriter, it has keys for letters and numbers, but it also has special keys:

The function keys, found on the top row, perform different functions depending on where they are used.

The numeric keypad, located on the right side of most keyboards, allows you to enter numbers quickly.

The navigation keys, such as the arrow keys, allow you to move your position within a document or webpage.

You can also use your keyboard to perform many of the same tasks you can perform with a mouse. For more information, see Using your keyboard.

Monitor

A monitor displays information in visual form, using text and graphics. The portion of the monitor that displays the information is called the screen. Like a television screen, a computer screen can show still or moving pictures.

There are two basic types of monitors: CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors and LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors. Both types produce sharp images, but LCD monitors have the advantage of being much thinner and lighter. CRT monitors, however, are generally more affordable.

Printer

A printer transfers data from a computer onto paper. You don't need a printer to use your computer, but having one allows you to print e‑mail, cards, invitations, announcements, and other materials. Many people also like being able to print their own photos at home.

The two main types of printers are inkjet printers and laser printers. Inkjet printers are the most popular printers for the home. They can print in black and white or in full color and can produce high-quality photographs when used with special paper. Laser printers are faster and generally better able to handle heavy use.

Speakers

Speakers are used to play sound. They may be built into the system unit or connected with cables. Speakers allow you to listen to music and hear sound effects from your computer.

Modem

To connect your computer to the Internet, you need a modem. A modem is a device that sends and receives computer information over a telephone line or high-speed cable. Modems are sometimes built into the system unit, but higher-speed modems are usually separate components.

Junk (DK) Drums not to rock

We are all familiar with those rocking drums, associated with music. But have you heard off a laser printer drum. Firstly, let me introduce you to a laser printer, just like a computer printer it also prints texts and graphics on plain piece of paper. Therefore, drum is the inseparable part of the laser printer, like every copier. Both these laser printer and copiers have drums that help in producing an image, while transferring it to a paper. But there lies a difference between these two; the image is transcribed differently in case of laser printers. Above all the print image needs to be inscribed necessarily in the drum.

Junk (DK) Brief of Thermal Printer for the beginner and is very useful to the public

If the translated meaning separate heat and thermal printer is the printer device. Sometimes there is a mention by the title thermal printer direct thermal printer. The simple explanation is a printer that has a working system by heating a special paper called the thermal paper (thermal paper) or via needle thermochromic paper (thermal print head) above the heated and brought near the surface of thermal paper is that this paper will blacken the next formed a objects such as text or images.

Now there is a thermal printer has 2 colors black and red. The red color is obtained by heating two different temperatures. Printing system with heat transfer is similar to a printer that uses heat-sensitive ribbon worn on the paper are sensitive to heat as well.

Judging from the actual thermal printer printing method has two types of printers and printer thremal direct thermal transfer printer that heats the ribbon with special materials that melt when heated.

Application Direct Thermal Printer

Compared with dot matrix printers, thermal printers have several advantages that print speed is faster and smoother sound. However, this printer has a higher price on the dot matrix, but instead with an excess of dimiliknya had led to widely used thermal printers. Some usability thermal receipt printer is printing at gas stations, ATM machines antrin machine, kiosk information systems, point of sales as at the checkout. Hospitals are already using a thermal printer for recording the results of an ultrasound scan.

In 1990, a lot of fax machines that use thermal printing technology is. But the early 20th century, printing technology based on thermal wax transfer, laser and inkjet technology is gradually displacing it in a thermal fax machine to follow the application on plain paper.

Speeds of 20-50 pages per minute are common for high speed scanners.

An example of one these fast scanners is Canon’s imageFORMULA DR-M140 Document Scanner. It was designed for high speed scanning at an affordable price.

Junk (DK) Guides in Choosing Photo Scanner

There are many options available of photo scanner in the local market and it is quite difficult to decide what type is suited for scanning needs. Photo scanner has so many features and fancy buttons present on it.

Practically, those fancy features and colorful buttons are not that essential when buying for photo scanner. In fact you can get away with a less colorful scanner that will perfectly suit your needs and style.

If you just scanning simple photos occasionally, flatbed photo scanner with typical brand name will do. Alternatively, if you are looking for a machine that will scan hundreds or thousands of photos you may want to go for automatic photo scanner. This type of scanner will automatically upload photos and scan them into the scanner memory.

In summary, choosing of ideal photo scanner would be all depends on ones needs.

Even when compared to the other main flat-panel options, an LCD TV is generally going to be thinner and lighter. This means that they are easy to move, which means easy to wall-mount as well.  LCD TVs are generally sleek and stylish, complementing approximately every type of décor.

Choosing Your LCD or CRT Monitor

Making the right choice or decision on which type of LCD computer screen or CRT monitor to buy is important. Your decision will depend on the quality and size of the display you seek.  The LCD screen is the currently trendy way to go with its flat looking screen or display. Many users no longer even consider the larger screen CRT technology anymore due to its size, picture quality and it consumes more power.

Apart from saving space, the flat-screen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology offers the following benefits: 1) it generates very little heat and radiation 2) uses less power and is less reflective.  CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors on the other ha...

DVD-RW means "Digital Versatile Disk Rewritable"

Did you know DVD-RW means "Digital Versatile Disk Rewritable"?

A DVD-RW is like a DVD-R but it can be erased and written to again and again. A DVD-R can only be written to once and read many times. Like CD-RWs, DVD-RWs must be erased in order for new data to be added. DVD-RWs can hold 4.7GB of data and do not come in double-layered or double-sided versions like DVD-Rs do. Because of their large capacity and ability to be used mulitple times, DVD-RW discs are a great solution for frequent backups. To record data onto a DVD-RW disc, you will need a DVD burner that supports the DVD-RW format. DVD-RW is very much useful in the areas where you need to frequently u...

CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors on the other hand, occupy more space on your desktop, do generate more heat and use more power and usually have a curved screen.  The main difference between LCD and CRT is based on how the image is created, and the resolution the screen can accommodate.  The LCD picture on the display is generated by a small cell containing a liquid crystal layer that bends light in response to electrical energy. While they can be clearer than CRT screens, they are limited by one optimal resolution.  The CRT screen creates an image through cathode ray emissions striking the phosphorous coating on the back of a glass tube. It offers more detail in drawings and colors at higher resolutions.

Of course all comes down to what you can afford, but a good-quality screen is a good investment in your work environment. CRT monitors can be bought very cheaply. Digital LCD’s can be much more expensive.  In the end, it depends on what you want to see on your desk as much as what you want to see on your monitor. You can spend as little as $ 199 or more than $ 1800.
