Storage and rack shelves for technical equipment

The rack shelves derive their name from their previous use of mounting relays for railways. These type of rack shelves are now a days used to support industrial equipment and computers. There are standard sizes for these shelves and the industrial equipment is also manufactured in the same dimensions for compatibility. Various LAN devices and servers are mounted in to these racks helves so that the heavy and dense amount of hardware does not occupy more space. In places where huge networks are required, we can observe many shelves which are used to hold the LAN equipment like modems, routers and switches. Some of these shelves also have cooling fans for cooling down the electronic equipment. Storage shelve furniture are other kind of shelves which are used for general storage of items. They are used in kitchens, living rooms and in many parts of houses to hold different items.

Different types of server rack shelfs

A rack or a shelf is simply a standardized frame structure for loading server modules or computing or industrial equipment. All the industrial equipment, computing and server equipment is designed in standardized dimensions of the rack shelf. The standard dimensions are multiples of 1.75 inches. It is also called one rack unit or 1U. The typical size for industrial equipment rack shelf is 42U. Professional 19 inch racks are always made for home equipment like audio devices, amplifiers and sound effects units like mixers. They are very widely used for mounting computer server equipment so that these heavy hardware configurations do not occupy much floor space or shelf space. Some computer server shelf are equipped with cooling units so that the servers do not overheat. These rack shelves are also used for mounting networking equipment like switches and heavy routers and hardware filtering units in large networks.
