Magnetic Ink Character Recognition or MICR, is one of the latest character recognition technology. Mainly it has been used in banking sector to ease the processing of cheques and makes up the routing number and account number at the bottom of a check. This technology lets computers to read information of printed documents. It formulated a new era beating the bar code technology. Because MICR codes are easily readable by both human and computer.
MICR characters are printed in special typefaces with a magnetic ink or toner, usually containing iron oxide and used special types of printers called MICR printer.
MICR printers are developed by a team of MICR engineers for high-quality, reliable printing of all types of MICR documents like checks, Image Replacement Documents (IRDs), money orders and WIC vouchers.
Various types and brands of MICR printer and MICR toner are in the market. HP, Dell, Micron, etc. are common brand to Print high-quality MICR codes.
