In computing, mounting means to carry out or uphold any sort of storage device or network devices for their accessibility. In order to do so, the user must make the devices accessible to the operating system of the host computer. It’s because, the user can only access mounted data in a mounted medium.
Mount point is another term used to describe the physical destination in the division that is utilized as a core file system. Different file system provides the host computer with some sort of meta data for enabling it to write and read data. So, when a media is mounted, the meta data is recognized by the operating system, and thus it can use the storage space.
